Local Hotel

The meeting has contracted for sleeping rooms at the Delta Chelsea hotel for a rate of $139 (Canadian) single or double. The rate does not include Ontario Provincial Tax of 5%, Federal Good and Services Tax of 5% or the Destination Marketing Fee of 3%. The Delta Chelsea is located at 33 Gerard Street West. The hotel is a 10 – 15 minute walk to Convocation Hall where the plenary sessions will be held. Attendees calling from North America can reserve rooms by calling 1-800-243-5732. International attendees should call 1-800-3-243-5732. When contacting the hotel, identify yourself as an attendee of the Yeast Genetics and Molecular Biology Meeting to get the special meeting rate. Roommate Bulletin Board

An electronic bulletin board is available at http://www.genetic-society.org/cgi-bin/bbs/yeastbbs.pl to facilitate finding a roommate. Registrants can post messages regarding what type of roommate they are looking for (male or female) and the participants will respond directly to the registrant.
 

Visas

Depending on where you live, and the reason for your visit, you will need to meet certain entry requirements. Please visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp to apply for a visa. United States residents traveling to Canada for the meeting do not require a visa but do need a passport.

Directions from the airport to the University of Toronto

By Taxi or Limo

Taxis and limousines are available for hire on the Arrivals level of each terminal. As of November 2007, the cost of a taxi to the University of Toronto is $46.00 CAD, and the cost of a limousine is $50.00 CAD. Approximate travel time (without traffic) is 30 minutes. By Public Transportation

Follow the “Ground Transportation/Public Transit” signs in the terminal. Board the Toronto Transit Commission bus #192S (“Airport Rocket”), which will drop you off at Kipling Station. Board the Kennedy-bound train, and exit the train at St. George station. Proceed one level up, and board the southbound train. Exit the train at Queen’s Park station. Proceed upstairs and follow the sign that says “University Avenue—West Side, University of Toronto”. Exit the station, and proceed to the conference facilities. As of November 2007, the cost of a single-ride adult fare is $2.75 CAD. Note that bus drivers do not carry any change. The Airport Rocket runs to and from Kipling Station every 20 minutes. Approximate travel time (excluding waiting times) is 1 hour.
