Genetics Society of America Award Presentations
The Edward Novitski Prize for 2009 will be awarded to Rodney Rothstein. The Novitski Prize is given in recognition of his extraordinary creativity and intellectual ingenuity in solving significant problems in genetics research.
The 2009 GSA medal will be presented to Marian Carlson. The GSA medal is given for outstanding contributions in the past 15 years.
Genetics Society of America Poster Awards
Awards will be given for the best poster presentations
by students. The following prizes will be awarded: 1st place - $400,
2nd place - $300, 3rd place - $200, 4th place - $100, 5 honorable

Poster Sessions/Exhibits/Beer Garden
The poster sessions and exhibits will be held in the Student Recreation Center. All posters will be on display continuously Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. These will be highly interactive sessions. Beer and wine will be offered during the poster sessions, including an outdoor area adjacent to the poster sessions/exhibits for attendees to exchange ideas and enjoy the
beautiful surroundings.
Closing Banquet
A salmon barbeque will be held at the world-renowned Museum of Anthropology. After the Winge-Lindegren address music will be provided by The Paperboys. They received a Juno Award (the Canadian Grammy) for Best Roots & Traditional Album of the Year (Molinos); and Juno Award nominations for three of their albums; two West Coast Music
Awards for Best Roots Recording (Molinos, Postcards) and three more nominations in that category.
Abstract Search and Program
Planner
The Abstract Search and Program Planner, available on
June 28, 2010, enables the user to search (by keyword, author and
abstract title), view and print all abstracts. The program will also
permit the user to select abstracts of interest to create a
day-by-day, session-by-session personal Conference itinerary. Please
direct any questions about this program to
Mahoney@genetics-gsa.org.
Program and Abstracts Volume
The Program and Abstracts Volume will be provided at the meeting
to registrants and is included in the registration fee.
Poster Sessions
The majority of the submitted abstracts will be scheduled as
posters. There will be 3 poster sessions. The poster boards will be
4 feet high x 8 feet wide. Each poster will have a net useable space
of 3'10" (116.8cm) high by 3'10" (116.8cm) wide. There will be two
posters on each board. The poster sessions will be held in Student
Recreation Centre.
Equipment for Oral Presentations
The following equipment will be provided in all plenary sessions:
a PC loaded with PowerPoint, an LCD projector, laser pointer and
lavaliere microphone. Please have your presentation stored on a CD,
zip disc or memory stick. Presenters should plan to be in Chan
Centre 60 minutes prior to the start of their session.
